Understanding the Federal Nursing Program.

Why the program was created.

There has been a critical shortage of registered nurses that the government recognized and decided to create a program to adress it. The best way to go around doing this was to helping needy students that have shown the interested academically and also voluntarily that they are interested in ready to go through the rigors that a nursing program presents.

The only thing that the Government asks for is that in return they work for this government healthcare facilities for 2 years.

Its not free service; its a stable job where the nurses get paid the same salary and healthcare benefits that they would get at a regular nursing facility and of course are negotiable. The more qualified a student is for the job the better equipped hes going to be in negotiating for a better pay package. Simple things such as having programming experience, or being a web designer or having worked in another field i.e accounting can be used to give the student that extra edge in showing just how much value he can provide the health care industry for the government.

So what exactly does the student in question get

  • They get a fully paid tuition for their school.
  • The government also takes care of all eligible fees that are involved with their studies.
  • Their accessories i.e books, Clinical supplies, instruments and uniforms are also paid for.
  • They also get a monthly stipend which for the 2011 – 2012 year is about 1289.

Who is eligible for the Federal Nursing Program.

  • U.s citizens that are either born or naturalized, Nationals and lawful permanent residents.
  • Those who are already enrolled or accepted to the nursing program that of course is registered. This includes (baccalaureate, graduate, associate degree, or diploma) at any accredited school located in the U.s or its territory.
